[...] The Tone Generation, is a series of audio podcasts that looks at the early history of electronic music. It is presented by Ian Helliwell using his extensive record and cd collection. Their are programs on early electronic music from specific nations, and more recently programs on Women in Electronics, Electronics and Voice, The RCA Synthesizer, Buchla and more! Well worth a careful listen.
I've just stumbled upon this amazing series, and just want to offer my somewhat stunned kudos. I was probably first drawn to electronic music due to its influence on rock in the 60s. Fortunately for me, my father was an avid record collector and played a wide array of music, and I latched onto 'Song of the second Moon' around 1970. Perfect music to read science fiction by. I've remained interested and intermittently enthusiastic since then, and continue to do sound design. Your survey of the field is the best I've seen or heard over the decades, and a splendid and comprehensive historical introduction. Thank you for your efforts, and I'll be sending this link to my 'A' list.
