Heineken Green Synergy 2005/2007

The Heineken Green Synergy DJ competition is a massive event that gives the cream of Caribbean DJs the opportunity to work with high-profile musicians, including A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Phife’, to create their own tracks.
Armed with an Apple laptop, Pro Tools digital editing software and Reason music software, Simon facilitated a series of music workshops on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.
The project included pre-production preparation of basic rhythms and a variety of sounds. Location production consisted of nineteen one- hour sessions during which basic melodies, vocals and scratching were laid down. Post-production sessions back in the UK will carefully shape the DJs’ musical sketches into polished tracks. The final mixes will be cut on CD and used by Heineken as a promotional tool.
