This is the online home for documents and media relating to the Under the Radar series of lectures and workshops.

Under the Radar is a lecture/workshop that explores the pioneering electronic composers of the 50’s and 60’s. At a time of great technological advances, composers such as the BBC Radiophonic Workshop’s Delia Derbyshire and Manhattan Research Inc.’s Raymond Scott were leading the way using innovative audio manipulation techniques to create futuristic new sounds. Used heavily by advertising executives, TV and radio producers and film directors, these often challenging sounds found their way into the home, bringing the avant garde into the mainstream.

Under the Radar uses audio and video clips to explore this important period in the development of electronic music. Further practical elements give participants the opportunity to experience for themselves the early electronic music techniques using vintage technology.
